In theory, the Internet allows to establish connections from any computer to any other computer on the
Internet, e.g., from an OPC UA client to an OPC UA server.
In practice, firewalls, NATs (network address translation) and intermittent connections via mobile
phone networks can make it impossible to establish and maintain such connections directly.
Within the scope of software engineering services for our clients, we can provide our own reverse
proxy server. It allows to connect any on-premise OPC UA server to the Internet despite the
mentioned obstacles. Our solution allows for complete remote monitoring and control as well as
reconfiguration without compromising on security and manageability.
