OPC UA Tunneling
Product Category: Client ServerTarget User: End User
Product Description
The OPC UA Client Driver and the free OPC UA Server interface for KEPServerEX provide an ideal OPC
Tunnel solution. The tunnel uses a Client/Server architecture to transfer data over an Intranet,
Internet, or WAN and provide a secure opc tunnel through firewalls. This tunneling solution is
easy to use while being much more secure and maintainable than remote OPC connectivity via DCOM.
UA (unlike DA) works over a VPN connection, and completely eliminates DCOM configuration and the
need to expose applications to unauthorized or anonymous users. An OPC tunneling solution provided
through KEPServerEX compliments existing OPC DA applications and now end-users, integrators, and
automation suppliers have a much friendlier solution to remote connectivity for OPC applications.

The ideal solution for connectivity between distributed OPC Classic (DA) Clients and Servers is by
pairing an OPC UA Client with a Remote OPC UA Server to create a secure and reliable
communications tunnel.
