The Alarms and Events (AE) specification is primarily concerned with the detection and reporting of conditions within a process control environment that require immediate attention.
AE servers are sources of events that could be a front end for a propriatory alarm and event sub-system or could directly monitor physical processes for conditions such as inputs that exceed their limits for safe operation.
AE clients receive notifications when alarms or events occur and may report the problem to a human operator or archive alarm and event information for later audit or correlation with other historical data. |
