IREDES (“International Rock Excavation Data Exchange Standard”) is an established standard for mining information exchange. IREDES describes application-level interfaces (“ISO Layer 7-8”) for mobile mining machines and equipment for optimizing mining processes in the field (e.g. tracking). IREDES uses the platform-independent and interface-open XML Schema technology as a carrier for the information defined in the standard. Thus IREDES enables an easy extensibility and flexibility in the application as well as openness to other XML based standards such as BIM.
