A dedicated sub-group to define foundational OPC UA information modelling constructs for part management.
In factory automation and batch-oriented process automation, products are typically composed of multiple parts (e.g., a car consists of wheels, an engine, a gearbox, seats, etc.). In upstream processes, these parts are themselves produced as products (e.g., a machine manufacturing wheels). Production monitoring and supervisory systems often require visibility into which parts are used in the manufacture of a given product.
The sub-group will develop a simple, standardized, and extensible OPC UA–based information model to represent essential data about parts used during production, such as unique identification, creation time, and related attributes. This base model is intended to be extended by domain-specific companion specifications or vendor-specific implementations to incorporate additional part-related information.
