Waste Treatment and Recycling Technology

The joint VDMA (Waste Treatment and Recycling Technology) and OPC Foundation Working Group will develop OPC UA Information Models for data communication. These models will facilitate communication both between machines and devices within a waste treatment and recycling processing line, and between these machines or devices and external systems (e.g., higher-level computer systems such as MES, ERP, or SCADA).

For each type of waste treatment or recycling machine (e.g., sensor-based sorters), a dedicated companion specification will be developed. These specifications will encompass parameters for machine identification and status, ensuring that each machine can be distinctly recognized and monitored. Additionally, the specifications may cover process values specific to each machine type, capturing operational metrics and statistics, performance indicators, information on energy consumption or maintenance activities.
Furthermore, the specifications may include methods for clients to modify settings. This enables external systems or operators to adjust machine configurations and operational parameters remotely, enhancing flexibility and control over the waste treatment and recycling processes.
