In longwall mining operations, a shearer, armoured face conveyor, roof support system and other components are used for the extraction of raw material. The FAS is usually a software component that is used to automatically straighten the conveyor line in respect to an aerial view of the longwall face. This way, the FAS, can instruct the RSS to align its shield positions by a certain offset.
