In 2024 we offer 2 activities completely independent from each other:

1. OPC Seminar Day Taiwan on Tuesday May 7th, 2024
2. OPC UA Hands-on-lab in Taiwan on Monday May 6th, 2024
   (a) Secure onboarding of assets/devices – live experience with OPC UA GDS
   (b) Secure, standardized connectivity to cloud systems

1. OPC Seminar Day Taiwan on May 7th, 2024
   The 1 day seminar with presentations about

• • OPC world: Status and update
    Learn about the OPC Foundation Cloud Initiative supported by Alibaba-Cloud, AWS, Huawei, Microsoft and SAP
    .
  • OPC UA strategy:
    OPC UA provides interoperability for
    (1) Field level, inside OT world including the results from the Field Level Communications Initiative with their UAFX Specifications
    (2) Interoperability for OT to IT: With “OPC UA over MQTT” we standardized the payload inside MQTT to guarantee interoperability. This has been adopted by all major cloud suppliers.
    (3) OPC UA provide interoperability for cloud scenarios like Digital Twins, DataSpaces etc,.

  • OPC UA provides powerful modeling capabilities plus built-in transport and security. These features can also be used in cloud scenarios for robust interoperability. For sure nobody is using TCP and UDP as transport to the cloud but instead file transfer, REST-Interfaces and MQTT as transport. All these transport mechanisms are supported by OPC UA for many years.

2. OPC UA Hands-on-lab in Taiwan on May 6th, 2024
   
   This is about getting in action! Bring in your device and play around with experts!
   This event is not happening in the Hotel Royal instead hosted by Beckhoff in their facility

Join one only or both sessions:

• Session (1) in the morning
  Secure onboarding of assets/devices – live experience with OPC UA GDS
  Certificate management is a key for large adoption and thus the OPC UA GDS server is a key technology.
  Today there are multiple commercial GDS servers available already.
  Attendees of the lab can choose between two options:
  1) Watch the presenter doing a secure configuration of applications with new certificates via the automated mechanism available in OPC UA
  2) Attendees bring their own OPC UA enabled device, and get educated how to execute a secure onboarding. After this lab exercise participants of the hands on lab will know how automated certificate management in OPC UA works and how an example GDS is operated to doing secure onboarding/commissioning of devices.
  This hands on lab helps End-Users, Product Managers and OPC UA Developers to understand how the concept works and what tools are needed. No programming skills are needed.

• Session (2) in the afternoon
  Secure, standardized connectivity to cloud systems
  MQTT is the dominant transport to cloud systems. However, its lack of defined payload is a problem for vendor neutral interoperability.
  OPC UA over MQTT, which is a realization of the PubSub specification released in Feb 2018, filles this gap and provides true vendor independent interoperability to IT systems.
  With two different encoding options (JSON, Binary) this solution provides flexibility to address different use cases for connectivity. Backed by industry giants such as Alibaba-Cloud, AWS, IBM, Google Cloud, Microsoft and SAP, the “OPC UA over MQTT” offering provides a robust framework for achieving interoperability with IT System. This hands-on lab we show live different options to connect devices:
  – brownfield scenario: how to connect and use gateways to deliver data to cloud dashboards
  – greenfield: new devices deliver OPC UA over MQTT out of the box
  This session will also address the topic of UNS (Unified namespace) and why OPC UA is supporting this concept since begin.
  For attendees bringing their own OPC UA Servers built into devices/applications, they will learn how to bring their data to the IT systems.
  This hands on lab helps End-Users, Product Managers and OPC UA Developers to understand how the concept works. No programming skills are needed.
