CC-Link Partner Association (CLPA)

Overview

At the 2016 Hannover Fair, the CLPA signed a memorandum of understanding with the OPCF to incorporate OPC UA technology into CC-Link IE. CC-Link IE is the world’s first and only open gigabit Ethernet for automation.

Technical Overview

CC-Link IE supports Industry 4.0 applications with unmatched bandwidth for real time “big data” manufacturing. It offers full gigabit operation from field devices to IT systems, and allows control, safety, motion and production data all on the same network with no loss of performance. CLPA’s activity with the OPC Foundation aims to take this one step further by expanding our existing CSP+ device profile technology to apply to whole machines and production lines through connection to edge processing devices. In November 2017, The CSP+ for Machine OPC UA Companion Specification was released. This will allow unification of the interfaces between machines and IT systems at production sites, contributing to reduction of engineering costs in order to realize high-level production in smart factories.

About the CLPA

The CLPA is an international organization founded in 2000 dedicated to the technical development and promotion of the CC-Link family of open automation networks. The CLPA’s key network technology is CC-Link IE, the world’s first and only open gigabit Ethernet for automation. Currently the CLPA has over 2,800 member companies worldwide, with over 1,500 certified products available from more than 300 manufacturers. CC-Link is the leading open industrial automation network technology in Asia and is becoming increasingly popular in Europe and the Americas.
