CEMAFON
Organization Overview
CEMAFON, The European Foundry Equipment Suppliers Association, is the respected voice and lobby organization of the European manufacturers of foundry machinery and plants, furnaces and products for the foundry industry. It incorporates about all relevant manufacturers of this kind of equipment. CEMAFON represents its members’ interests in economic as well as technical and trade issues. The CEMAFON members are holding an important share in the world production and exports of foundry machinery and related equipment. Nearly one third of the total world exports of foundry machinery are originating from these countries. CEMAFON members are mainly exporting within the EU-28 (47%), while Asia is the second largest sales market for foundry machinery equipment from Europe with a share of 18%, followed by North America (11%) and Latin America (12%). The members come from Denmark, Germany, Italy, Spain and Switzerland.
Position to OPC UA
CEMAFON Technical Working Subgroup 5 (SG5) is a technical orientated working group especially being initiated for OPC UA standardization tasks. The first task is to define and implement the “High Pressure Die Casting Initiative OPC UA Companions Specification”.
Industry 4.0-capable systems require intelligent data exchange in both Die casting cell as well as its periphery. To ensure this, representatives of the European die casting industry worked together to create a standardized open communication interface with the standard OPC Foundation’s ‘Unified Architecture (OPC UA)’. This offers security functions, is freely accessible and provides meta information about the data that can be viewed by everyone.
Over 60 experts from over 30 European companies develop under the roof from CEMAFON and VDMA Metallurgy cross-manufacturer information models (Companion specifications), the interfaces between components, machines and facilities. These describe device and capability information. A machine is therefore equally easy to integrate into a system network for all manufacturers can be integrated and can therefore also be connected to a software system for planning and Production control can be connected. The following are standardized Among other things, the description of the manufacturer name, the device type and the Process data, such as temperatures or pressure, as well as operational organizational data Information, such as information on achieved productivity and quality.
