MIMOSA provides comprehensive open, supplier neutral specifications for full life-cycle asset management and asset information management, including both intra-enterprise information exchanges from the sensor through the enterprise systems and inter-enterprise information exchanges along the full asset life-cycle axis. This includes the complex task of handoff from design engineering to operations and maintenance at commissioning, start-up and production. This full life-cycle support provides great benefits, it simplifies the flow of as-engineered and as-built information into production, reducing effort during start-up and production, by greatly reducing the manual re-entry of information needed to install, commission, operate and maintain assets. It also provides a solid basis for full life-cycle configuration management and multi-organization asset tracking, as assets may migrate through multiple organizations during their life-cycle.
