The HKI Industrieverband Haus-, Heiz- und Küchentechnik e. V. represents the interests of manufacturers of commercial kitchen equipment as well as domestic heating and cooking appliances. For over 75 years, the association has shaped technological developments and contributed to standards and legal requirements. The HKI advocates for its roughly 250 member companies, particularly in the areas of environment, standardisation, regulation, policy, and digitalisation.
The HKI Industrieverband Haus-, Heiz- und Küchentechnik and the OPC Foundation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop common standards for commercial kitchens. One key outcome is the Companion Specification 30200 “OPC UA for Commercial Kitchen Equipment,” which defines the required device data in a manufacturer-independent way. This helps avoid isolated stand-alone solutions that often challenge operators of commercial kitchen, who typically rely on equipment from different manufacturers.
Adjustments to the Companion Specification are made whenever needed to reflect also new developments such as increasing automation and robotics in commercial kitchens.
