Scope / Goals
The working group communication interface is part of the department catering equipment. It was founded to create this companion specification with the intention of harmonizing data exchange and interoperability requirements for the common benefit of catering equipment manufacturers, operators and suppliers.
Technical content
At the moment the connection of different commercial kitchen appliances works best for products that are manufactured by the same company. Connecting equipment from different manufacturers is possible but a challenge. The OPC UA companion specification “Equipment for commercial kitchens — Communication interface for commercial kitchen Equipment” was created with the intention to change that.
List of commercial kitchen equipment with standardized interfaces:
Through the standardised communication interface, the limits of the local units are overcome by software means in order to increase efficiency at all action levels (manufacture, supply, storage, production, production control, company resource planning through to the handling of the entire supply chain) and to implement change scenarios better and faster in future.
