Map and Directions
The OPC Foundation Cloud Initiative, launched in November 2024, is rapidly progressing. Join our conference to receive a comprehensive update on the activities and developments to date.
We are also pleased to welcome representatives from Catena-X, IDSA, IDTA, and Plattform Industrie 4.0, who will share their experiences using OPC UA within their technologies.
Don’t miss this opportunity to learn how leading standardization organizations are collaborating to shape the future of industrial interoperability!

| 1. | 5min Welcome |
Stefan Hoppe |
| 2. | 20min OPCF Cloud Initiative – Status and Roadmap Listen to an update on new development within the OPC Foundation Cloud Initiative Working Groups in the last 6 months and a recap and progress towards the Initiative’s goals. Learn about the significant, recent open-source contributions within the Cloud Initiative as well as our ideas on the criteria for a product to be OPC UA CX compliant. |
Erich Barnstedt, Senior Director & Architect Industrial Standards, Corporate Standards Group, Microsoft Corporation Chair OPCF Cloud Initiative |
| 3. | 10min International Manufacturing-X Council Showcase The International Manufacturing-X Council (IMXC) initiative represents a pivotal effort to address the pressing need for global data collaboration and interoperability in the manufacturing sector preparing future industrial AI innovations. The IMXC Showcase and its members, demonstrate cross-country and inter-company vertical and horizontal data exchange based on industry standards like OPC UA and federated trust technologies. |
Thomas Hahn Member of the Steering Committee Plattform Industrie 4.0, Siemens Fellow |
| 4. | Unifying AAS & OPC UA from political point of view |
Dr. Christian Mosch, Managing Director, IDTA |
| 5. | Unifying AAS & OPC UA: One data model, one common communication Discover how the IDTA & OPC Foundation Joint Working Group – through a proof of concept initiated by Siemens – is unifying AAS and OPC UA in a single software stack, demonstrating the power of common information and communication models for true interoperability. Learn how REST, OpenAPI, and WebSockets enable modern, high-performance integration – and how this proof of concept is shaping the future standardization efforts of both organizations. |
Frank Volkmann, Siemens Nils Bauer, Siemens Constanze Biehler, Siemens Juliee Tikekar, IDTA |
| 6. | Trust by Design: Extending OPC UA with IDSA‘s Data Space Standards The IDSA brings data sovereignty and usage-control governance to the OPC UA ecosystem. Together they form an architecture that links industrial assets with trusted data exchange. This combination turns machine data into shareable, sovereign, cross-company value. |
Lars Nagel, CEO International Data Spaces Association |
| 7. | Unlocking Value with AI by using Standards The use of established standards such as OPC UA helps to unlock the value of data in industrial systems, not only but also for applications based on Artificial Intelligence. But in order to work well for AI, these standards need to inform the AI systems with semantics of data as well as domain knowledge. In this talk, the current state of things in Industrial AI will be presented and emerging technologies such as MCP will be set in context with established standards such as OPC UA. The talk is based on the work of the “OPC UA for AI” working group. |
Dr. Holger Kenn, VDMA |
| 8. | Live DPP4.0 powered by Id-Link, OPC UA, AAS and Catena-X A trustable Battery DPP should be able to reside inside or very close to the live asset, such as the BMS (Battery Management System). OPC UA is the field proven technology to represent the DPP “product Condition” parameter set specified in the DIN DKE SPEC 99100. Also, with its rich semantic chain across different transports (i.e. 5G, MQTT) OPC UA it’s a solid candidate to solve the DPP IoT challenge. In this sense, Catena-X DPP WG has planned a demo that will provide a reference implementation stacking all the relevant DPP4.0 solutions based on open international standards, such as Id-Link (IEC 61406), OPC UA (IEC 62541), AAS (IEC 63278) and Catena-X (Eclipse dataspace) connectivity layers. This presentation will be a sneak peek on that. |
David Tobon, Huawei Technologies Duesseldorf, Co-Chair OPCF Cloud Initiative |
| 9. | Q&A (10 min) | All |
