I want to get specific OPC data out (‘Item Description’) with each tag name from an OPC server

I can clearly see the string value in Item Description when I use an OPC client (Matrikon OPC Explorer).

I have now tried almost a dozen OPC clients and I still can’t find just one application that can get the tag name out WITH the Item Description into a txt or Excel file for further processing.

See included screenshots:

To the left is an example of an item property in the OPC server, Siemens MK8000 Server.

To the right is an example of an OPC client, in this case the Matrikon OPC Explorer, in which the Item Description is available.

But I can’t export each tag with the Item Description. Only the tags themselves are extracted when I export.

Is there any way I can get the item description out as well without having to write my own program?

If you have access to the OPC-F NET API it may be faster to write your own program.

We don't have access to that 🙁

Any other way?

You may use a commercial OPC client library (toolkit). Disclaimer: I represent one such vendor.

Example: http://opclabs.doc-that.com/fi.....perty.html .
