Is there an official way to determine if the OPC DA Core Components are installed?

1) Go to control panel | uninstall programs | check for Core Components installer.

2) Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\OPC Foundation check that it exists and contains DLLs.

Sorry, I guess I wasn't specific enough. I'm looking for a way to do this during an install process. I imagine I could find it in the add/remove programs list if needed. Regarding the file path - is that always the correct path? Are there other methods...a registry entry for example?

Thanks,

Ken

The installer component id is in the registry. Not sure where.

If you are  building your own installer most installer development packages have a way to do this if you know the component id.

You can use orca.exe to extract the info you need from the merge module.

And the path?

Is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\OPC Foundation"

always the path that the core component files are installed to?

Cannot be changed during installation. Use the %CommonProgramFiles% and %CommonProgramFiles(x86)% environment variables.
