Hi,

is there a specified way OPC server must handle writing out of range values to certain opc datatypes?

e.g. Softing returns 0xE1000001 when writing a value like “-5” to an UI2 item.

We are having discussions with a business partner and I want to know what the specs says.

Thanks.

The specification explicitly specifies convert rules and conversion errors.

If the Softing server passes the compliance test it is probably right but you will need to read the specification to make sure.

Finally I found it in the specs (DA 2.05a), the Softing server works as specified.
