Is compliant to specifications the option to avoid starting an OPC DA server by COM runtime, when it's a Windows NT service? In fact a service is immediately started upon booting of the operating system and therefore also runs always without user log-in.

Thanks

The specifications are silent on this issue.

You can configure your NT Services for manual start. That would mean it only loads if a client attempts to connect.

That said, you need to set appropriate permissions on the NT Service so it can only be started by authorized users. Allowing anyone to launch the server could cause issues even if you set the start mode to manual.
