Hi,

I’m trying to make a remote connection between a OPC client (Softing) to a OPC server (Kepware).

On the server side, after adding the device and channel (OPC-DA), I was able to find and import the tags from the client, but they all show that the quality is “Bad” and also have no value. On the other hand, when I add the tags directly in Kepware’s tag management (OPC quick client) or using “OPC client” by FactorySoft, I can both observe the tags and see that they’re value is changing.

In short, I have a connection with the client, I’m just unable to receive any value when I add the tags through the device connection I’ve set up in Kepware.

Appreciate any help I can get

Andreas

Hi Andreas,

which version of the software (client and server) you use?

You can specify the OPC DA version the client should use (Server Properties –  Use OPC Version).
Check if the behavior changes if you use an older OPC version.

Hi guys,

How did you resolve this issue? I am having the same trouble with Kepware OPC DA Client.

OPC Quick Client can read data directly from the remote OPC Server.

KepServerEX can even import tags from the remote OPC Server. When QUick Client now connects to the KepserverEx, error message is “failed to connect to server on channel”.

Please help.

Thanks,

Chris
