OfflineHello everyone,
I am currently preparing an application for OPC certification and noticed that a new release of the OPC Core Components Redistributables (Version 3.1.1.89) was recently published (2026-03-17).
The software lifecycle documentation states that when an update occurs, prior revisions should be treated as "end-of-life." Given this, I have a few questions regarding the certification process:
- Mandatory Prerequisite: Is it a strict requirement to have the latest Core Components (v3.1.1.89) installed on the DUT (Device Under Test) for the certification application to be accepted?
- Compliance Testing: Does the current CTT (Compliance Test Tool) or the test lab environment specifically require this version to validate COM Proxy/Stub modules or OPCENUM.EXE functionality?
- Legacy Support: If our current implementation was built/tested against the previous version, would using the "end-of-life" version negatively impact our certification results?
Any guidance from the certification team or members who have recently gone through the process would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Gianluca Mazzimini / Siemens

OnlineOPC Core Components should have no impact on certification which focuses on the product.
The new version should be a drop in replacement for the previous version.
If a product works with the old version but not the new version the presumption is a bug in the OPC Core Components installer.
That said, it would be helpful if you test with the new version and report any issues.
