I wanted to know if there is a statistic of the number of nodes joining an OPC UA information system. I ask this question to get information on the possible sizing of the server

That is going to be a server specific value. I have seen nano servers embedded on controller that limit the number of Connection Nodes (channel/sessions) to 2 or 3. Our Server, KEPServerEX, limits the number connection nodes to 128. All UA Servers should document the number of nodes they support.

If the server supports it you should be able to read "ServerType_ServerDiagnostics_ServerDiagnosticsSummary_CurrentSessionCount" from namespace 0. That would be referenced as i=3097.

Instead, does a client have specific details such as how many nodes to handle?

Clients control how many nodes they choose to access so they can handle as few or as many as they like.
