Hi,

I hope this message finds you well.
I am a graduate student and currently engaged in a project involving data communication with our DMG MORI machine. I am new to OPC UA. We are encountering a significant challenge while attempting to read data using the OPC UA communication protocol in Python. Our observations indicate that communication times with the machine are notably inconsistent, with a gradual increase in data reading duration over time.
  • For instance, when conducting two separate tests using the Python OPC UA library for data collection (Collect R variable from siemens sinumerik 840D), the initial sampling time can vary, starting between 0.05 to 0.1 seconds. As the process continues, there is a consistent linear growth in the duration required for data collection, eventually extending to 0.35 seconds after a period of 150 seconds of data collecting. These results in the number of collected data reduces a lot as time goes.
We have purchased an OPC UA license (license certificated by SIEMENS) and are now reaching out for your expertise and assistance. Any support or guidance you could provide would be immensely valuable to my research. Please let me know if there's any specific information or details required from our end to facilitate this process.

Looking forward to any one  response and thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

Best regards,

WZ

You should test the same client with a sample server.

If you see the same issue then it is likely an issue with the python code and you need to seek support from the supplier.

You should also use a sample client that uses something other than python.

If you see the same degradation with a sample client then it is likely a server issue and you can raise it with the vendor support.
