Hello,

An OPC UA Client can write to the Historizing Attributes if the WriteMask indicates that the Historizing Attribute is writeable. The Historizing Attribute indicates whether the Server is actively collecting data for the history of the Variable (OPC UA Spec. Part 3).

Does this mean that a client can instruct the server to save the values in the historical store and stop it again, by setting and resetting the Historizing Attributes?

I am looking for a standardized solution to control this function on the server. I would like to avoid a product specific method.

Thank you and best regards

Harald

The expectation is server that allows clients to enable/disable historization allow authorized clients to write to this attribute.

However, the mechanism for configuring history (i.e. sampling rate/deadband/etc) for a node will likely have vendor specific steps so the attribute write only works for nodes that have been configured in advance to allow historization via the vendor specific steps.
