I was taking a closer look at the information meta-model and I wondered why the NodeTypes (Method, Object, ObjectType, ReferenceType, Variable, VariableType, View) are no nodes themselves and thus have no NodeIds. After all, they define common properties that are inherited by all NodeClasses of the corresponding NodeType. What is the reasoning behind this?

They are Nodes.

They are not *Instance* Nodes.

Look carefully at the wording that says they are not Nodes for any significant qualifiers.
