Hello, I am a PLC software developer who is new to OPC UA.

My question is, I want to transfer data from a Siemens S7 PLC to a computer using OPC UA. The PLC side claims to publish the data via OPC UA.

Can I directly access the PLC's data with a program I will write in C# using the OPC UA standard library? Or do I need a third-party tool like Kepware between the PLC and C#?

Other question is I see there are SDKs like UA-.NETStandard. Is it free to use or should I buy license for that?

Thank you.

TA.

You can use any of the C# OPC UA SDKs that are on the market.

NETStandard has a dual license model: GPL if not a member of the OPC Foundation, RCL if a member.
