Hi everyone,

I am studying in Germany. At the moment, I am working in a project in my university in area energy management. We are working now with a XML file, which bases on OPC UA.

Unfortunately, this work is something new for me. I want to know, is there any regulation or rule for numeric indetifier of node ID? Or I can choose simply a radom number for an identifier.

I will appreciate for your answer. Have a nice day!

Best regards
Khanh

The numeric ids are qualified by the NamespaceUri. Any rules are set by the authority that created the NamespaceUri.

That said, NodeIds must be something that can be saved and re-used by Clients when they reconnect. This means you cannot use random numbers for NodeIds. They are generally assigned in sequence.
