Hi Team

Our OPCUA Client is developed in Java and utilizes the UA Java Legacy SDK. Is this SDK equipped to support the Chinese character set? We are aiming to ensure our client adheres to the GB18030 standard. How can we guarantee compliance with the GB18030 requirements? Any details about this subject would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Do not recommend using that code base. It is not supported and may be taken offline at any time.

If you need GB18030 support you will have to add it.

Thanks Randy, is it safe to say that the sdk lacks support for GB18030, and we'll have to modify the sdk's source code to include support for it? What character set does it supports?

It is not clear what you mean by support. Strings in OPC UA are always UTF8 encoded and you cannot change the encodings to GB18030 on the wire. If you are building UIs and configuration file readers then you need UTF8 conversion routines but those features are part of your application and not the SDK code. If GB18030 is just UTF8 then there is nothing you need to do. The SDK supports.

Thank you Randy for clearing that up.
