Unit ID for power "var" is available in https://opcfoundation.org/UA/u...../un/cefact. But unit ID "varh"  for energy is missing. We do not want to use unit "Wh" instead, because this is not the same. Is it possible to add unit "varh"? Thanks!

Thank you.

The problem is that PROFIenergy specification from PNO specifies unit varh for some measurements, e.g. "Reactive Energy Import" Measurement ID 212). If a device shall provide such measurements according to PROFIenergy, it must deliver it with the unit varh and not kvarh. That means it is not possible to provide all PROFIenergy measurements by OPC UA?

The OPC UA list exist to give implementers something standard to use if they do not have another standard to comply to.

If PROFIenergy requires 'varh' (and other units) then it should define its own namespace URI and publish a list of extensions to the base OPC UA units.

PNO can also ask UN/CEFACT to add the missing units.

See this text from their PDF:

VIII. MAINTENANCE AND UPDATING
26. Recommendation No. 20 is maintained on behalf of UN/CEFACT by the UN/CEFACT
Information Content Management Group (ICG). Proposals for updating this Recommendation
should be addressed to the Global Trade Solutions Section, United Nations Economic
Commission for Europe, Palais des Nations, CH-1211 Geneva 10, Switzerland or by email
(cefact@unece.org).

There is no guarantee though that they accept it or when.
