Following the outstanding success of the World Interoperability Conference, 1st edition in 2019 with over 350 participants, Hannover Messe, the OPC Foundation, and VDMA are jointly organizing the World Interoperability Conference (2nd edition). (see video here https://youtu.be/nQ4wCDRrEs0 )
World Interoperability Conference (2nd edition) will take place:
- On May 30, 2022 from 12:30h to 15:00h CET
- Hanover Fairgrounds in Hall 19, Room New York
At the 2019 conference, a total of 38 industry groups presented their semantic definitions; this year, the focus is on harmonization of the various groups and the so-called world language of production. Another highlight is the contribution of major cloud providers, who, for the first time, have committed to a common standardized data exchange from the shop floor to the cloud. The topic of sustainability in production through interoperable data rounds out the day.
Speakers from cloud, automotive, and mechanical engineering sectors, as well as the organizations OPC Foundation, VDMA and GAIA-X, will report on industrial practices and provide information on upcoming trends.
As usual, this free conference will take place in parallel to the Hannover Messe conference and is organized in such a way that both trade fair visitors and conference visitors can participate in equal measure.
The conference offers a unique opportunity to receive information on strategic as well as content-related issues and innovations.
Participation in this event is free of charge – attendees get a free entrance for the trade show.

The Global Production Language by Andreas Faath, VDMA . The Global Production Language enables interoperability for shop floor information by standardized OPC UA Interfaces. Domain specific interfaces are standardizing specific Machine Information. The OPC UA for Machinery is the mayor Standard that defines information for all machines and components on the shop floor. With this future intelligent production will be possible! Learn about the standards and the role of the VDMA and why more than 600 companies are working together to develop the Global Production Language! |

OPC UA for Cloud: OPC UA as THE harmonized solution to the cloud by Stefan Hoppe, OPC Foundation . With over 860 members from OT and IT the OPC Foundation is the hot spot for the standard OPC UA promising “Secured Industrial Interoperability”. This talk is to highlight the interoperability by the “OPC UA for Cloud initiative” including the UA Cloud Library, the Industrial Cloud Federation and the IEC based standard “OPC UA over MQTT” technology for multi cloud solutions. |
. |
Digitization, interoperability and challenges of the energy transformation by Espen Krogh, CEO Prediktor The Energy Transition and Europe’s Energy Crisis urges us to agree upon industrial standards to use in the energy segment. The presentation also include interoperability solutions in renewable solar farms and offshore wind farms using information models at large scale. |

Gaia-X Status and Roadmap by Dr. Dominik Rohrmus, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Gaia-X Association . Gaia-X grew in one year to more than 340 members that work on three main deliverables: De-facto specifications for data and cloud ruling, OSS reference implementations and a Label scheme to support the adaption. The talk will focus on the base principles of Gaia-X and the roadmap and deliverables for 2022. |
