EUROMAP 77 – Data exchange interface between injection moulding machines and MES
Overview
EUROMAP is the European umbrellas association of plastics and rubber machinery manufacturers. It provides technical recommendations for this branch defining besides others mechanical and electrical interfaces between the machines.
The current recommendation EUROMAP 63 defines a data exchange interface between Injection Moulding Machines and central computers / Management Execution Systems (MES).
As the current recommendation EUROMAP 63 is based on the transfer of text files which is not state of the art, it is intended to create a new interface as EUROMAP 77 on the basis of OPC/UA. This interface is intended to provide functionality to exchange information on the machine with its status and configuration, process and job parameters as well as the transfer of data sets for configuration.
Technical content
The central computer would not actually control the injection moulding machine and its equipment, but the interface would allow the central computer to set a machine’s operating parameters and then monitor its process data. No direct control functions or function necessary for the safe operation of equipment will be provided.
