The Open Group is a global consortium that enables the achievement of business objectives through technology standards and open-source initiatives by fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and mutual respect among our diverse group of 900+ memberships within its many Forums. It has 900+ member organizations and provides a number of services, including strategy, management, innovation and research, standards, certification, and test development. It was established in 1996 when X/Open merged with the Open Software Foundation.

The Open Process Automation™ Forum (OPAF) mission is to develop, publish, and evolve an open architecture and specification supported by industry end users, suppliers, and integrators. It is driven by End User needs.
The O-PAS™ Standard, a standard of The Open Group, defines an open, interoperable, and secure architecture for industrial process automation systems, using existing and emerging standards whenever possible—a standard of standards.

Certifications are essential to the O-PAS Standard as they verify conformance, build trust among stakeholders, and ensure consistent quality across implementations. The Open Group is the Certification Authority for the O-PAS™ Standard.
